My major at Kent State University is Human Development and Family Studies. With this degree, I strive to work with local social services- preferably addressing the needs of underprivileged children. One of the main reason I decided that Kent Sate was right for me was because the College of Education, Health and Human Services- where my major is housed- has an outstanding reputation. With world renowned programs and instructors, Kent State’s College of Education, Health and Human Services provides exceptional training for me to pursue my future career. A feature of Kent’s campus that many EHHS students take advantage of is the Child Development Center. The Child Development Center is an on campus learning center for young children and students interested in such fields. Student workers gain firsthand experience working with young children. They receive crucial training in helping children develop vital mental and social skills. With exclusive resources like the Child Development Center and the great program structure of the College of Education, Health and Human Services, Kent State University was the perfect fit to mold my future career in social work.

There is no doubt that Kent State University has extraordinary resources available to help prepare me for my future career. But, what is the most important asset at Kent state that will help contribute to my career? …Me! Nothing can help boost my future career more than my own personal drive and commitment. It took my own initiative to apply to Kent State, take the leap at planning my future. I’m here, making a promise to myself that I have what it take to build a successful career. It’s up to me to embark on my college journey, take full advantage of the opportunities presented to me, and ensure that my future career will be everything I expect. While it’s true that Kent State’s degree programs and on campus resources are phenomenal, they would contribute nothing to MY career if it were not for ME fully utilizing their possibilities.  Without my unwavering dedication, I would not get anywhere. My initiative, my passion, is the absolute most important contributor to my future career. Kent State provides me with the best possible outlets of experience and training to set forth in the job market, but it’s up to me to make use of them.
